This is a Curtiss Helldiver of VB-3 ("Bombing Three") operating from the carrier USS Yorktown in late 1944
Vought F-8E Crusader
The aircraft depicted served with VF-111 'Sundowners' on USS Oriskany operating off the coast of Vietnam in 1966.
It carries two Sidewinder air-to-air missiles, two twin Zuni rocket launchers and eight 'Snakeye' 500 lb bombs.
The Crusader featured a variable incidence wing which was raised during landing and takeoff to improve lift. The wing is seen here in its raised position.
